pleasure to meet you = Surirtu Biliqaiki (if you're speaking to a woman )

Ma Huwa = What is

Don't forget to change the ending of the word Surirtu or Bima-rifatika depending on the gender you are speaking to.

When introducing yourself in a middle eastern culture, its polite to offer a handshake with your right hand or give a kiss on each cheek of the person you're meeting.

Saying where you're from and asking the other person:

I'm from America = Ana min Amreeka

Where are you from = Enta/Etni min wayne?

Min = From
Wayne = Where

Or

I was born in America = Wu-ledt fee Amreeka

 Saying how old you are and asking the other person for their age:

Formal:

I'm 20 years old = Ana omari eshreen (20) sana.

Eshreen = 20
Omar = Age
Sana = years

(The difference is, you add Sana after you mention your age)

Omari=My Age

By adding ri you are referring to yourself
In an informal dialogue you can remove Ana & sana and just say:
-Omari eshreen (20).

To ask someone their age:
How old are you? = cam Omarik? (M)
How old are you? = cam Omariki? (F)
  • cam = directly translates to how much
  • but in this context it mean how old

In future posts I will explain how to use cam when asking for price, or inquiring about anything.
